Shot List: Troops carrying barracks bags on their shoulders walk up
gangplank of vessel "USNS General Stuart Heinzelman" for trip to Goose Bay. Blackboard:
"USNS Gen. Heinzelman Sailing Time 1500 Master D. Baker". Men move along covered pier
and onto gangplank inscribed: "US Army Hampton Roads Port of Embarkation". Sailor and
soldier check roster as men file past "Troop Movement" desk. Names are checked against
roster. Soldiers line rails of the ship. Other shots of men embarking. Vessels "Benjamin
Silliman" and "George Crile" at anchor in the harbor to cargo ship "James E. Haviland"
being unloaded at the pier. Some good cargo working scenes being shown here. Trucks,
forklifts, crane work on the pier. Whirley (floating) crane off the "Haviland's" bow.
Winch signalman works at the "Haviland's" hold in the unloading of a 40 ton "five yard
bucket crane". Whirley crane is used to raise the bucket crane from the "Haviland's" hold
and to lower it onto an LSU alongside. Officer, others look on. Body of a 37 ton crane
is raised from the hold and into the air.
